The nature reserve of the Vendicari is 13km long and runs from Lido di Noto down the east coast to San Lorenzo in the south.  A haven for wild migrating birds and people who want unspoiled beaches, it is a place for beach lovers and hikers who can see migrating flamingoes in the lagoons.  The beach of Calamosche is perhaps the most beautiful but also the most difficult to reach, while the ten minute walk from the parking area to the old tuna factory is easier, especially if you have small children.  The south entrance, in San Lorenzo leads to the nearest sandy beaches and just outside the reserve there are lidos and bars.
